Took it like a G.

Her flu shot, that is. I was prepared, nursing tank already unsnapped, to quiet her quickly after the jab, but, aside from a bit of fussing over being made to lay down, nary a tear from our brave little toaster.  Didn't bat an eye. Went right back to chatting to everyone and looking around.  Good kid!

Today was her 9 month appointment - 9 and a half, really.  First time we saw her actual pediatrician too. (All the other docs at the practice are great, though, so we don't mind.)  She's now 28 inches tall, 18 lbs, 8 oz (which I think is 4 ounces less than she rang up on another scale last week, but that was another scale.  Wait, was she wearing clothes on that scale? Hmmm, maybe. Nevermind). Her head is 17 1/2 inches.  That's 70% on height, 50% on weight, and 75% on head for those of you who care or understand what the hell those percentages mean anyway (I mean really mean).

The doctor asked about foods and such.  She recommended offering her more foods she could feed herself. Fat cottage cheese curds. Some shredded cheese. Avocado. Tofu.  Hmm, those last two items make me think it's time for sushi night. Yogurt is a go.  I asked about what happens after the 12 month mark since as of now, my plan is to dial back on the damn pumping, though I'm happy to continue nursing her in the morning and evening.

I can't believe there's only 12 weeks or so left until I hit the one-year mark with breast feeding. Considering I was confident we wouldn't make it to 6 weeks, this feels like an accomplishment.

  1. You should feel proud! Big, big ups for getting your sweet cheeked girl this far. And damn, T, not one tear? You are tougher than the boys in your midst!

  2. Too right! T's jab nearly brought a tear to my eye. It's the being told to pin her down which upsets me the most though.
